Via Emilia 9 has been serving authentic cooking from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy for three years now. Chef Giancarlo “Wendy” Cacciatori continues to shine in the kitchen of his quaint South Beach restaurant (1120 15th Street), and his partner Valentina still orchestrates the dining room with a deft touch. What has changed is that the décor has been subtly spruced up, the menu boasts new items, and a special seafood dinner menu is highlighted every Thursday night.

I recently sampled deliciously grilled whole calamari over salad greens; linguini with fresh clams in a “bowl” of Parmigiano-Reggiano; and moist cubes of grilled tuna contrasted with crunchy fried, homemade spinach noodles. You can literally grab a well-priced wine off the wall to pair with your meal (although you probably should let the waiter get it for you).

And, finally, amazingly: Via Emilia 9 is offering 50% off the already affordable lunch menu daily, and half-off the dinner menu every Tuesday, both deals running through the month of December. Dat’s good.
